7mm TCU for (Thompson Center Ugalde) was developed in the 1970’s by Wes Ugalde of Nevada for the Thompson Center’s Single Shot Pistol to use in silhouette competition.
Formed from the .223 Remington, or (5.56x45mm) case, increased the case mouth (necked up) from .22 caliber (5.56mm) to 7mm and the angle of the case to the neck is increased from 23 degrees to 40 degrees, case length is almost the same, but the shape is definitely different, with the .223 Remington (5.56 NATO) being a tapered case and the 7mm TCU almost a straight case.
