History of the 7mm STW cartridge:
The 7mm STW for Shooting Time Western was developed as a Wild Cat cartridge by Layne Simpson in 1979 created by necking down the 8mm Remington Magnum to except 7mm projectiles.
Later Art Alphin of the A-Square Company (now closed) began the process of registering the cartridge with SAAMI, however, in October of 1996 Remington Arms Company announced it would offer the caliber and rifle in early 1997.
The early ratings from Remington for the caliber was 62,000 Pounds per Square inch in the chamber to produce a velocity of 3,325 feet per second for a 140 grain projectile.
