History of the 7.5x55mm Swiss rifle cartridge:
The 7.5×55mm Swiss which is also called the 7.5×55mm Schmidt–Rubin was introduced (originally as a(paper-patched)* cartridge in 1889 for the Swiss Military use in the Schmidt–Rubin Model 1889 rifle.
Velocity up to 3,000 feet per second, and energy up to 2,805 pound per square inch made this a great cartridge in the late 1,800s and still a great cartridge today. *paper patched: The actual projectile is wrapped with a piece of paper to act as a gas seal of the between the barrel and projectile.
