History of the 6mm Creedmoor Cartridge:
Hornady introduced the 6.5mm Creedmoor cartridge in 2008.
It was fundamentally based on a shortened and necked-down .308 Winchester case to accept 6.5mm ( .264″ caliber) projectiles.
This produces velocities over 3,000 feet per second with a 120 grain projectile with energy of up to and over 2,500 foot pounds per inch of energy for the 6.5mm Creedmoor.
In late 2015 Hornady saw the popularity of the 6mm calibers growing and decided to neck down the 6.5mm Creedmoor case to accept 6mm (.243″ caliber) projectiles and called it the 6mm Creedmoor, which produced velocities over 3,300 feet per second with a 108 grain projectile.
The 6mm Creedmoor is joining many other fast 6mm calibers introduced in the last few years and some good older 6mm calibers like the .243 Winchester and 6mm Remington.
