Description
*One Cartridge not a Box, the box is for reference only
This is a NEW cartridge came out in Great Britain around 2019, not sure how long it has been in the U.S.A, but it was off our radar until 2025, thanks to a good customer friend he total us about it and we now carry it, thank you Dan for the information.
One Cartridge not a Box: 38 Super Comp Major by Atlanta Arms, Covington, GA U.S.A. Using Starline Brass cases and loaded with a 115 grain J.H.P.* *Minor projectile, which according to Atlanta Arms is designed and manufactured for a specific purpose/objective.
*J.H.P. is short for Jacket Hollow Point for new collectors information.
History of the 38 Super Comp Major or 38 Super Comp (for short):
The 38 Super Comp Major or 38 Super Comp (for short) was introduce around 2019 by Eley a Great Britain ammunition company (established in 1828 by William and Charles Eley).
Eley is now best known for their very high grade competition 22 LR Rim-fire cartridges.
The 38 Super Comp Major was designed to be a new competition pistol cartridge produced for IPSC/USPSA shooters.
From Shooter Sports USA:
“With Eley Action .38 Super Comp Major, IPSC and USPSA competing athletes can rest assured they have the safest .38 Super Comp Major round on the market. The round delivers reduced recoil for improved sight picture recovery, and its ‘rimless’ case loaded with a round nose copper metal jacketed 124-grain bullet offer superb reliability magazine stacking and feeding.”
Measurements:
I check the measurement on both the 38 Super and the .38 Super Comp Major, the case length were the same and the O.A.L. (Over All Length) was also the same length.
However, the rim on the .38 Super Comp Major is not as wide as the .38 Super.
That said, if using a .38 Super Comp Major cartridge in a .38 Super Pistol, the pistol’s extractor may have a hard time extracting the case and not knowing the pressure different in the two different cartridges, it may not blow back the bolt enough, so I don’t think I would try the .38 Super Comp Major in a .38 Super pistol and I will let you decide, please let me know how it works out, if you have a 38 Super pistol, I do not.
