One Cartridge, not a box: .32 Smith & Wesson Short, early REM-UMC Headstamp produced by Remington / UMC Company using early (Then New) brass cases with a “REM-UMC 32 S&W” head-stamp and loaded with an 88 grain lead projectile. UMC = Union Metallic Company.

History of .32 Smith & Wesson Short Cartridge:
This pistol cartridge was introduced in 1878 for the Smith & Wesson Model 1-1/2 hinged-frame single action revolver.
It was loaded with black powder at the time of its introduction, but has been loaded with smokeless powder since 1940.
