One Cartridge, not a box: .17 Remington Fireball, factory loaded by Remington using new Remington Brass with “R-P 17 REM FIREBALL” Head-Stamp and loaded with a .17″caliber SST (Plactic Covered Hollow Point, not pictured) projectile, not pictured.
History of .17 Remington Fireball cartridge:
Remington introduced the .17 Remington Fireball (rifle cartridge) in 2007 by necking down the .221 Remington Fireball (pistol cartridge) to accept .17″ projectiles.
The .221 Fireball (pistol cartridge) was created in 1961 by shortening the .222 Remington the was created in 1950.
The popularity of the .17″ caliber has been on the increase for some time and started with the .17 Remington (not Fireball), which was introduced in 1971 by necking down the 223 Remington from .22″ caliber to .17″ caliber.
With velocities to over 4,000 feet per seconds, the .17 Remington Fireball with a 20 grain projectile, this is a great varmint and small game cartridge.
