History of the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge:
The 6.5 Creedmoor (or 6.5mm Creedmoor) was developed in 2007 by Dave Emary of Hornady and Dennis DeMille a Camp Perry Champion.
It is based on the Hornady .30 T/C (Thomson Center) case shorted by .115″ and necked down to accept 6.5mm (.264″) Caliber projectiles.
The cartridge was designed to be used in the short-action in the AR-10 platform as well as bolt-action platforms, and it has proven to be a winner and replacing a lot of 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) barrels, producing flatter trajectories at the 400/500 yard range and higher muzzle velocity with a lighter projectile with higher ballistic coefficient and better energy per weight the .308 projectiles.
