History of the 44 Marlin cartridge:
The 444 Marlin was developed by Marlin and Remington Arms; Marlin made the rifle and Remington produced the ammunition.
The cartridge was introduced in 1964 for the Marlin Model 336 level-action rifle and is basically a lengthened 44 Magnum, which makes it a great rifle cartridge with velocity up to app. 2,500 Feet per Second, and energy up to over 3,000 Foot Pounds per Square inch.
