Description
Above picture on right side is for size comparison: Left to Right: .338 ARC, 6mm ARC and 22 ARC.
One cartridge not a Box: .338ARC by Hornady loaded with a subsonic, Massive 307 grain SUB-X (Super Expanding, Plastic covered Jacketed Hollow Point) projectile. The .338 ARC by Hornady is the third caliber in the ARC lineup.
The Hornady ARCs cartridges began with 6mm ARC:
The first ARC by Hornady was the 6mm ARC that was introduced in 2020 with great success, as it offered the performance of a larger cartridge with the small size to fit the AR-15 platform, and later Bolt-Action rifles and also offers low recoil and a wide range of projectiles to use (like the .243 Winchester) for small varmints to whitetail deer.
Next was the .22 ARC introduced in late 2023 or early 2024, designed to fit into standard-length AR-15 actions and provide improved ballistic capability (22-250 Remington with the size of a .223 Remington) for the AR-15 Platform. The cartridge and rifle chamber were designed simultaneously to ensure consistent performance.
Now in late 2024 (12/21/24) for an early 2025 release if the 338 ARC, which will be 1.5 times the power of a .300 blackout and should be a get short range hunting cartridges for the heavy cover woods (like here in Maine) in a AR-15 package.
