History of the .500 Smith & Wesson Cartridge:
The 500 Smith & Wesson, aka 500 S&W, is a rimless cartridge that was introduced in 2003 and is the most powerful *production handgun* cartridge to date.
It is also being used in some rifles. With velocities of over 2,000 feet per second and energy up to 3,000 foot pounds per inch, it is a very impressive revolver cartridge, not for the light of heart.
