One Cartridge not a Box: .45 Automatic, a/k/a .45 Auto, 45 ACP, factory proof by Black Hills Ammunition Company – loaded using nickel plated brass Starline cases, and red/purple dyed projectile and dyed “* * 45 AUTO +P” head stamp and a 185 grain JHP (jacketed hollow point) projectile. *WARNING* Sold as a collectible, do not use in a firearm, as to “HIGH PRESSURE” and injury or death may happen!.

History of proof Cartridges:
Proofs are used to verify or “proof” the mechanical strength of a firearm before it leaves the factory, higher pressure then regular ammunition and should never be fire in your firearm!
The bright dark reddish wash or dye on the base (head stamp) and projectile with nickel case is the U.S. industry standard of identifying these types of cartridges.
Proofs are not normally available to the public.
History of the 45 Automatic Cartridge:
The 45 Automatic, a.k.a .45 Auto, and .45 ACP, invented by John Browning and introduced in 1911 for the Colt /Browning Model 1911 Semi-Auto pistol.
This is a great caliber, and has stood the test of time and is still one of the most poplar calibers today after over 100 years, as well as the 1911 pistol now made by 100s of manufacturers.
