One Cartridge, not a box: 45 Automatic, a.k.a .45 Auto, and .45 ACP – older World War II production by Eau Claire Arsenal, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin produced using steel cases with “E C 43 S” Head-Stamp which means 1943 Eau Claire plant and “S” for Steel and 230 grain FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) projectile.

History of the 45 Automatic Cartridge:
The 45 Automatic, a.k.a .45 Auto, and .45 ACP, invented by John Browning and introduced in 1911 for the Colt /Browning Model 1911 Semi-Auto pistol.
This is a great caliber, and has stood the test of time and is still one of the most poplar calibers today after over 100 years, as well as the 1911 pistol now made by 100s of manufacturers.
